Shortz: Recent Media Stuff

Hey everyone! I'm trying out a new format so this is going to be a bit off-the-cuff; On top of my usual film reviews I'd like to start doing a new, more frequent setup I'll be calling "Shortz" (until I think of something better). These will be smaller, bite-sized posts about recent film/tv/game happenings, or other opinions that I'm just dying to get off my chest but that maybe don't require an entire essay. For a good example of what this might look like, let's talk about some recent media stuff!

Dune: I know I've already reviewed this movie but I can't get it out of my mind, I think it might be one of my new favorites, it just ticks so many of my boxes. Please go see Dune. Grab some nachos (nachos > popcorn, there I said it), grab some IMAX tickets, heck, grab an edible if that's your thing (as long as you do it responsibly) and go see this movie!

Morbius: Boy, Morbius sure looks weird huh? I know Marvel is really letting loose with its multiverse stuff now but even as someone who follows the Marvel Universe pretty closely, I'm confused by what in the hell is going on in this movie. We've got references to every previous Spiderman film (all the way back to Raimi), magic bats, and Jared Leto as a crime fighting vampire, a recipe for...who even knows? Disaster doesn't feel like the right word, maybe something more Catwoman-esque. Fingers crossed.

The Book of Boba Fett: Bless Jon Favreau for taking the lead on the short form Star Wars stuff, because he just keeps knocking it out of the park, and it looks like this will be no different. If this new show is even half as good as the Mandalorian, I might have to request that we just put Favreau in charge of everything Star Wars (with Rian Johnson's help of course). Temuera Morrison looks ready to kick some ass as Boba Fett, and I'm definitely ready to watch him do it (plus, Disney for sure owes us more quality Star Wars content after The Rise of Skywalker, so...).

FarCry 6: On to some video game news, I played Far Cry 6 recently and I can confirm that it's...more FarCry. I didn't want to give this one a whole review because it's pretty straightforward; If you like FarCry, you'll like FarCry 6, and if you don't, this one probably won't change your mind. It's no FarCry 3, but it's better than their recent output. A solid 6/10 I guess? Who knows, I didn't dislike it, but I played it for a few hours and then went back to Mass Effect so make of that what you will. It was gonna be a 5/10 but one of your companions is an immortal sausage dog in a wheelchair, so brownie points I suppose.
